Loose contamination can be washed from the surface of the filter element by agitating the element in a suitable solvent. Only Stainless Steel Wire-mesh type elements should be cleaned, in this manner.
Lightly brush the element to remove the stubborn particles. To prevent damage to the high quality wire mesh do not use a hard or a sharp cornered brush. This should be effective for larger particles and be suitable for elements of 25 micron and above. For finer elements, including metal felt, and where there is heavy or dense contamination, ultrasonic cleaning may be required.
After washing, an air line should be used to dry the element and to blow loose particles from the elements. Introduce the airline into the centre tube, so that the air passes from inside to the outside of the elements. Large particles (40 microns and greater) can be removed from the elements without washing by this mean.
After cleaning, store the element in a plastic bag and seal the bag to keep it clean until next requirement.
